Celebrating Wedding Anniversaries from Paper to Platinum

Celebrating wedding anniversaries dates way back to the German empire when hubbies crowned their wives with silver and gold wreaths after twenty-five and fifty years of marriage. We’ve had to wait until the twentieth century to celebrate every anniversary from Paper to Platinum, so Kate says: “Why not make the most of every Wedding Anniversary?”

To make sure that you never miss any of those important anniversary dates Kate’s put together a Wedding Anniversary Guide and along the way you’ll find some lovely Anniversary Cards picked out, with Love, by Kate too.

Happy 1st Paper Anniversary Greeting Card

1. PAPER - The first year we married we papered our room, you bought me Carnations I showed you the moon.

2. On our second anniversary COTTON was best, you bought me Lily white knickers, I bought you a vest.

3. The third is for LEATHER, what’s romantic in that? But you bought me a Sunflower so I’ll make do with that.

4. On our fourth anniversary you fed me FRUIT, and we sipped Champagne from a single flute...

5. Our WOODEN anniversary brought Daisies and

6. the sixth, being SUGAR, was sweet, but

7. the WOOL jumper you gave on our seventh anniversary gave me a terrible itch

8. You treated me to a weekend in London on our eighth, we visited Picadilly and sat by the BRONZE statue of Eros,

9. By nine years it was time for that POTTERY class, which made a change from you watching telly on your fat hairy...

10. Ten years I had waited to be lavished with TIN lucky for me, as we married in March, Daffodils were in

11 – 14. The years flew by hardly noticing STEEL, then silky smooth LACE made us sit up awhile and we'll always remember IVORY as they never forget...

35.  For our CORAL Wedding Anniversary a second honeymoon we went.  On our own for a change and money well spent

40.  A RUBY anniversary marks forty years, how we laughed, how we cried, but not too many tears.

50.   They say silence is GOLDEN, but I think you should hear, I loved you fifty years ago and more now my dear.

55 – 60. There's not too many couples that make it this far, but believe me my love EMERALDs and DIAMONDs are worth far less than you are.
